RIVERDALE, NEW YORK, April 15, 2020—This Saturday, 4/18, the Baen editorial team will be hosting a Facebook LIVE event featuring authors David Weber, Eric Flint, Charles E. Gannon, Catherine Asaro, Wil McCarthy, Griffin Barber, Robert E. Hampson, Robert Buettner, and Kacey Ezell as we discuss new and upcoming titles and work to connect our audience with our authors in these difficult times with a virtual version of our popular convention road show.

The Baen Books Traveling Road Show has been a staple of science fiction book conventions for years, drawing hundreds of people at events like Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA and LibertyCon in Chattanooga, TN. The show features original artwork by illustrators like Bob Eggleton, David Mattingly, Tom Kidd, Dave Seeley, Kurt Miller, Stephen Hickman, and many more top artists in the field. Under normal circumstances, we use the road shows to hand out free print books and advance copies to our more dedicated and enthusiastic readers, and in the spirit of those live shows, we will be giving out free ebooks and eARCs of titles featured on the screen to select live audience members. The first in this series featured over 1000 comments in real-time.

The road show represents only a portion of the new digital content Baen Books is bringing to readers during this quarantine period. We’ve launched a series of author readings and audience Q&As with the aim of capturing the feel of a bookstore event. Our first official episode featuring author Larry Correia garnered 150 live participants and more than 3400 views.
