I would love to see Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce in science fiction. He is known as a brilliant strategist/tactician. His strategies in the Nez Perce War are still studied today. Outgunned and outmanned, Chief Joseph managed to fight a defensive battle, leading his people for approximately 1200 miles, trying to make their way to a safe haven in Canada. He is considered an honorable and wise leader. In military SF, a common scenario is the defensive battle against a numerically and technologically superior force. Chief Joseph fought such battles without losing his humanity.
