Going Interstellar Tale Chosen for
Year’s Best Science Fiction

Baen Books is pleased to announce that “Twenty Lights to ‘The Land of Snow,’” Michael Bishop’s short story contribution to innovative science and science fiction collection Going Interstellar, edited by Les Johnson and Jack McDevitt, has been selected for the Gardner Dozois edited 30th Annual Year’s Best Science Fiction, due out next year.

We asked our readers who are military veterans where they served. Tally of entries in the Baen Veteran’s Day contest entries by service: Army is in the lead, with 125 entries. Navy is in second place with 75, followed by Air Force with 60, Marines with 36, Coast Guard with nine, Army National Guard has 10, Air National Guard has five.

Of the foreign countries, Canada is in the lead with seven entries, followed by Australia and Sweden tied at five. The U.K. has three, New Zealand has two, and these countries have one each: Italy, Israel, Greece, South Africa, Croatia, (former) East Germany, France, Finland, and Belgium.
