The world—our world—portrayed within this book is at times wondrous and exotic, and also dark and desecrated. In many places, full of strife and pain. In a dystopian future, humanity is polarized into extremes of the rich and the poor, the overfed and the hungry. This is but a natural extension of some of the problems we see today. It doesn’t have to be that way.
Organizations like The Hunger Project work to change things for the better—from the ground up.
