For my grandparents Pola and Naphtali Tafel, Eve and Yechiel Friedman, who’d survived the Holocaust.
Part of this novel is loosely based on Yechiel’s true story, a Polish Lieutenant whose battalion was sent to stop the German Panzers in 1939.
